What Bikini Style Actually Suits You? Forget the Body-Type Rules

"What bikini style suits me?" is a question I hear all the time, and it almost always comes loaded with old rules about body types, hiding this or highlighting that. I want to answer it differently, because that is not how I design.

Start with how you want to feel

Before you think about cut or print, think about what you are actually doing in it. Swimming laps, an ocean swim, Pilates, or a slow day on the sand all call for something a little different, not because of your body shape, but because of how you want to move and how much support you want while you do it. That is the real starting point.

Choose your bikini for how you want to move, not for a body-type rule someone else wrote.

Coverage is a preference, not a rule

There is no bottom that is more "correct" for any body. A full-coverage short, a tie-side bottom, cheekier or more relaxed, all of it comes down to how you want to feel that day, not a rule about who is "allowed" to wear what. I made our tie-side styles adjustable specifically so you are not locked into one coverage level forever. You get to decide, and you can change your mind.

A quick style breakdown

  • Scoop-neck top (Ozoux): wide, supportive straps and a flattering neckline, best if you want a secure, no-fuss fit for real movement.
  • Halter top (Marie): thicker adjustable neck and back ties for extra lift and shape, a good option if you want to fine-tune support yourself.
  • Full-coverage shorts (Ozoux, Payton): no adjusting needed, the most coverage, and it stays put through anything.
  • Tie-side bottoms (Marie, Bloom): adjustable from a more modest fit to a little cheekier, your call, and it can change from one wear to the next.

And because every piece is reversible, you are never really choosing just one look. You are choosing two, in one piece.

When in doubt, ask

I would always rather you ask than guess. Tell me what you will be doing in it and how you like to feel, and I can point you toward a style. Email amaliswim@gmail.com, check our FAQ for sizing help once you have a style in mind, or browse The Amali Sets to see how the pieces mix and match.
