For a while I had two entirely different wardrobes. One for the gym and Pilates, one for the water. Different drawers, different washing routines, different money spent twice on the same idea: something to move in. Then I actually looked at what I was doing in each piece and realised I was buying the same function in two different fabrics.
The moment it clicked
I was heading to a Pilates class in my swimwear because I hadn't done laundry, expecting it to feel wrong. It didn't. It held, it supported, it moved with me through every stretch and rep the same way a proper set would. That was the moment I stopped seeing swimwear and activewear as two separate categories and started designing for one.
One bikini that takes on the job of all the activewear sitting in your cupboard that you can't swim in. That's the whole idea behind Amali.
Why swimwear can actually do more
Good swimwear already has to do the hard job: hold its shape wet, dry, hot, cold, moving fast or standing still. If it can handle the ocean, it can usually handle a reformer class, a run, or a walk. The reverse isn't always true. A lot of activewear isn't built to get wet at all.
Every Amali piece is double lined and built with wide, supportive straps or adjustable ties for a reason. Not just so it stays on in the water, but so it holds up through actual movement, whatever that looks like for you that day.
If one piece can do the job of two, why keep buying two.
What this looks like day to day
Pilates in the morning in the Ozoux Top and Shorts. Straight into the ocean after. Rinse, reverse it, and it's a completely different print for the afternoon. That's not a hack, that's just what the pieces are built for.
If you want to try it for yourself, start with the Ozoux collection, the one I designed specifically to move through a whole day in.
